The street piano - soon to be moving on...

Today I was reminded of the Street Piano on Sharrow Vale Road, so decided to go and have a look.

Unfortunately no-one was playing it today, and I can't even manage chopsticks. The sign thanks everyone for their support and tells that the piano will be moving to a new home soon - it seems the Council have given it it's marching orders.

Something like this makes me feel really warm inside, that there are people who think and do lovely things for others. Okay, so it's only an old piano in the street but that doesn't matter it makes people smile, and that does matter.

It has it's own website with the whole story of how it came to be there and what happened when it was stolen, hopefully it will appear in another part of the city soon.

Wouldn't it be great if Street Pianos could be found all over the country for anyone who wanted a tickle on the ivories?

**Update** WOW! The Street Piano has been on the Radio 4 Today Programme this morning, it was a little piece about local stories and they interviewed the owner of the piano and a guy from the council. It seems the council have given in, but there's no mention on the Street Piano website and the Today Programme website says that it's going to a local cemetery so we'll have to wait and see.
