It's not been bad, everyone I'm working with is lovely and I know the work will be interesting (if a bit formulaic). But it's been a bad week to start a new job. One member of the team left on Wednesday, they are down one anyway (who I'm replacing) and two others are off on leave - so the remaining three are struggling to pick up the rest of the work - and so haven't got time to show me stuff or even explain what's happening.
So although they've tried, they really are only showing me bits and it's SO confusing when I only see parts of a long complicated process. I've described it as being dropped into NASA mission control in the middle of a launch!
They tried to set me up on a test session on the system, but it kept going wrong and although they kept saying 'make up the info', it's hard to make stuff up when you've absolutely no idea what should be entered and when the system doesn't do what the work sheet says it will.
On top of all this my car stopped working last night - I won't say 'broke down'. I went to Liz's and when I came to leave the car turned over but wouldn't catch, I had to abandon it and Liz gave me a lift up to Niamh's.
Whilst I was at Liz's I'd swapped the key over as the one I originally got was damaged, I didn't think it would make a difference as I just simply swapped the casing (moved the metal bit and the remote chip). Although Liz suggested that might be the issue, neither of us really thought it was.
This morning I had to call in to work and take the day off, I then got a bus down to Liz's and called Steve (the garage I've always gone to). Steve suggested it might be the key, and since I had picked up the spare - I tried that.......and, praise Bob! it worked!
So, I'm now sat at work with nowt to do, but at least I haven't had to use a whole day of leave and I don't have a massive garage bill.
