Everyone likes Fridays, end of the week, beginning of the weekend.....at the moment great for me as I don't work Fridays. But last Friday was so amazing, so much good stuff happened!
Firstly, and it might not sound like much, I did my tax return! Thankfully mine is very short and easy but I need to get together the info, which I finally managed to do.
I then went into town to meet Peter, he's been talking about wanting a gecko tattoo since he was fifteen, and although I've not encouraged him at all, now he's 19 and still wants it I said I'd take him to meet my tattooist - so he's paid a deposit and the art work is in progress.
I also got the chance to show Terry my leaves now they have healed - he's really pleased with them, and keen to do more! We'll have to see.
Tamper for lunch (yay!), and meeting with Jamie. Afterwards we went off for an afternoon of exploring - I had an idea about where there was some Phlegm art, and she wanted to see if she could find some art she'd seen from the tram a while ago.
OMFG!! We hit gold! We found a building stuffed with art, I can't say where it is (but it was reasonably easy to get into through a broken shutter). Obviously once a complex of factories and offices, the massive rooms were all painted. We didn't see anyone else in there, just a lot of startled pigeons and piles of pigeon shit! Both of us were happy, we saw the most amazing Phlegm piece we've ever seen, and we found a MilaK gem too in one of the offices. Many other little bits too, including a Phlegm/Rocket01 collaboration.
From there we got the tram out of town and found the buildings Jamie had seen, more Phlegm, and many other artists from the city - we were like children in a sweet shop! On a roll we got the bus out to Tescos and the building near there with even more art! Some nice new stuff since we last visited.
My feet were killing me (really bad blisters from last weeks walk and from skating), so I got a couple of buses home.
So, an amazing day of urban exploration - I love this new hobby, but I need to find my head torch, we passed on the cellar as it was too dark!
Throughout the day I got some brilliant messages too! Firstly, an email from work offering me 12 more weeks work, probably at a wage that will mean I'm able to get there, I'll find out on Monday. Then an email from a local independent magazine publisher offering me an interview for a part time job with them - this will be fantastic if I get it, I've followed the magazine since it first started six years ago (it's a free publication which champions local artists, music and businesses).
Finally a text from a friend asking if I was still looking for a lodger (which I am), and she's coming round to have a look at the room - I hope it works out.
But the day wasn't over yet, I met Siege in the Forum later for drinks, and we ended up in Corp!! I didn't stay out really late, but had a great time.
What a Friday, I wish they were all that good! You can see all the photos on Instagram. But a selection below to give you a flavour of the day!
