When you go into a cafe or restaurant in China, expect to order immediately - the waiter will bring you a menu, and then stand expectantly waiting for your order - they expect you to know what you want almost before they give you the menu!
Which is fine if you just want a coffee, but not if you actually want to eat, or if you are having trouble deciphering the menu.
