Break out


Tonight I watched my all time favourite film, The Shawshank Redemption. I've seen it many times and it never fails to delight (and bring tears).

But it got me thinking about the fact that my favourite film and my favourite book are about the same subjects, imprisonment, suffering, patience, hope and redemption/revenge.

My favourite book of all time is one of those classics that everyone thinks they will one day get round to, but few rarely do; The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas (which, incidentally appears in The Shawshank Redemption), which has a very similar, if more drawn out, story.
